SHILLONG:
A petroleum tanker crushed two vehicles on May 7 at around 10:30 am at Mawblei near Maruti Suzuki Showroom.
The tanker was journeying from Assam towards Mawlai, and on reaching Mawblei it reportedly lost control after its brake failed, crushing two vehicles as a result.
Speaking to the Meghalayan, Shankar Nath, the tanker’s driver said, “We were returning from Guwahati from Hindustan Petroleum via Shillong bypass through Mawryngkneng and were going to Mawlai. We crossed Laitkor and on reaching Mawblei the vehicles brake failed, there were three cars so I did not know what to do, so I hit the hill and the car overturned.”
As a result of the collision, both petrol and diesel have spilled over the road, and the police have blocked it off to traffic.
