PM Modi promises growth & development if BJP comes to power in Meghalaya

In his speech, PM Modi sought the mandate of the people and said that if BJP comes to power in Meghalaya, it will be easier for him to work closely with the state to bring in overall development.

Shillong wore a colourful look, on February 24, as the city welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a one-day visit to Shillong and Tura, to campaign for party candidates ahead of the assembly election in the state.

On his arrival in Shillong, PM Modi paid floral tribute to U Tirot Sing at State Central Library premises before taking out a roadshow from the State Central Library to Khyndai Lad and addressed a gathering at the commercial hub of Shillong.

In his speech, PM Modi sought the mandate of the people and said that if BJP comes to power in Meghalaya, it will be easier for him to work closely with the state to bring in overall development.

He said, the state lacks connectivity in the form of road, railways, airport and infrastructure, which are key to the development of the region, and the state government has always posed hurdles to bringing in such projects.

Stressing on change and ensuring that it will, he said, “India’s Act East Policy is a strong pillar for the development of not just Meghalaya but the entire Northeast. Through the Act East Policy, the centre has been able to boost tourism and trade in the region.”

Seeing the large crowd, PM Modi expressed firm belief that BJP will come to power in the state and said, “This time, the lotus will bloom in Meghalaya.”
