Guwahati, Mar 13: Police detained 30 people in Sivsagar on Wednesday for demonstrations against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Bir Lachit Sena, central secretary Rontu Paniphukan and Central Organising secretary Shrinkhal Chaliha were detained by police.
Speaking to the media, president of Bir Lachit Sena condemned the police’s action. He accused the government of selectively targeting their peaceful protest while allowing other events to proceed without hindrance.
On the other hand, police had stopped the All-Assam Students’ Union (AASU) rally in Dibrugarh on Tuesday.
