Shillong:
Police on Thursday nabbed the third accused in a case of “sexual assault” of a minor in Risa Colony forest in the city.
Earlier in a statement, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger informed two persons were identified and arrested from Khliehshnong Malki on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on June 3 when the minor and her 18-year-old male friend were on an evening walk in the Risa Colony forest.
The three also assaulted the male friend of the victim.
On June 3 around 7:20 pm, telephonic information was received by the police from the secretary of shnong of Risa Colony shnong that a girl has been violated inside the forest.
The police team from Laitumkhrah PS immediately rushed to the spot where it was ascertained that one minor girl and one boy had gone to the forest for an evening walk and were accosted by three persons.
Further, the miscreants threatened them for being in the forest and demanded that they pay a fine. Two of the miscreants started assaulting the victim’s friend while the other person was with the girl.
The male friend requested the accused to let go of the girl and that he would comply with all their orders but both of them were, however, forced to strip. They also robbed them of their belongings.
The male friend managed to escape from their clutches and ran towards the residential area of Risa Colony for help.
