Prestone lashes out at HYC, HITO; calls them political wings of some parties

He appealed to agitators to put a stop to all these criminal activities and said, “The government will take all-out effort to make sure culprits are booked at the earliest.”

SHILLONG:

NPP MLA from Pynursla Prestone Tynsong on Saturday lashed out at the two pressure groups – Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) and Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) for organising public meetings against the decision of two HSPDP MLAs – Methodius Dkhar and Shakliar Warjri to support the National People’s Party (NPP) to form the government.

“They (HITO and HYC) seem to be the political wings of some political parties because wherever they go, within Khasi-Jaintia, they talk openly about supporting one party. Listen to their public meetings, what other proof do you need? The people know better,” Tynsong said.

Expressing concerns over the attacks at the properties of the two HSPDP MLAs, Tynsong termed the act as unfortunate and said, “It seems these people want to snatch away the constitutional right of the elected representatives but my message is clear – we will not allow such criminal activities to happen in Meghalaya just because of one party or one individual MLA wanting to join any political party to form the government.”

When asked if Meghalaya is staring at President’s Rule given the “law and order breakdown” in the state, the NPP leader replied in the negative. “Not to that extent. The state machineries are on the job and they will bring everything under control,” he added.

He appealed to agitators to put a stop to all these criminal activities and said, “The government will take all-out effort to make sure culprits are booked at the earliest.”
