Printing dept employees condemn FKJGP’s surprise visit

The staff said that certain protocols were flouted, and maintained that protocols should have been followed especially at a time when election is just around the corner.

SHILLONG:

Moments after members of the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) entered the premises of the Directorate of Printing and Stationery on January 11 to demand the resignation of the director over corruption charges, staff members of the directorate staged a protest against the surprise visit.

The staff said that certain protocols were flouted, and maintained that protocols should have been followed especially at a time when election is just around the corner.

They also said that there was no prior information of their visit and termed the move as “improper” stating that such acts create panic among the staff members.

Earlier, members of the FKJGP had allegedly accused the director of misappropriating funds amounting to Rs 2.9 crore. The association’s publicity secretary, Reginald Thabah, had added that a letter regarding the same had been forwarded to the chief minister.

The organization had given the government 10 days to either transfer or suspend the director, but since they didn’t do either, they requested that he vacate his office immediately.

“We ask him to cooperate with us, to leave the office immediately so that a departmental enquiry would be fair,” added Thabah.
