The state government has kept the promotion of three MCS officers in abeyance.
In a notificatiON on Friday, the state government stated that this was done in pursuance of the judgment and order of the Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court May 13, 2019.
Two of the MCS officers were promoted on December 23, last year while one was promoted on January 10 this year.
The three were initially promoted as Additional Deputy Commissioners from Extra Assistant Commissioners.
It may be mentioned that the Division Bench of the Meghalaya High Court on May 13, 2019 in a judgment on an appeal made before the court by three petitioners who are MCS officers had set aside the ruling of a single judge stating that Rule 16(4) of the Meghalaya Civil Service Rules has not been looked into by the learned Single Judge.
