The day one of the first ever Ranji Trophy match at MCA cricket ground, Polo, Shillong, saw Meghalaya trailing by 94 runs against Sikkim at stumps.
Sikkim, who won the toss and decided to bat, were bowled out for 140 in 59 overs, with Ankur scoring the highest score of 37, supported by Arun, and Palzor Tamang scoring 22 each.
Meghalaya, who pulled up a good win against Mizoram, rallied heavily on their bowling to keep Sikkim batters from thwarting the tight bowling line up.
For Meghalaya, R B Bishnoi Jr picked up an impressive 4 wickets by giving 48 runs in 22 overs, and Akash Kumar again proved brilliant with the ball by picking up 3/48 in 15 overs.
Meghalaya were at 46/3 with star batter Punit Bisht (13) and Bamanbha Shangpliang (10) at the crease as the day closed, and they will resume batting tomorrow.
