Ranji Trophy Semifinal: Bihar beat Meghalaya by 302 runs

Meghalaya lost their seminal of the plate group Ranji Trophy match against Bihar by 302 runs at the MCA Ground, Polo, Shillong, on January 20.

Bihar who had scored 428 in the first innings, had already taken a first innings lead of 294 runs, by bowling out Meghalaya for 134 runs. In the second innings Bihar scored 164 runs, thus setting a target of 459 runs for the host.

Resuming play on the fourth day, Meghalaya had a huge target before them and the task looked quite impossible from the beginning, given the form Bihar bowlers had displayed in the first innings.

After having lost 1 wicket for 19 runs on the third day at stums, a miracle was required by the hosts to chase the mammoth total and win the match on the fourth day.

As the match progressed today, the hosts kept on losing wickets at regular intervals with Rohit Shah, R R Biswa, Tarique Siddique all falling before Meghalaya could even put 100 on board.

The batsman that followed too could not hold on the tight Bihar bowling with Punit Bisht going down for 25, Tarique Siddique for a duck, Akash Kumar 17, and Dippu 22.

For Bihar Ashutosh Aman picket 4 vital wickets, while Veer Pratap Singh and Nawaz picked up 2 wickets each.

Earlier, Meghalaya had won the toss and elected to field first, however, the hosts could not capitalise in both the bowling and the batting departments.
