NONGSTOIN:
The Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Nongstoin, vide judgement order dated 07-03-2023 convicted one Agustine Momin aka Rajesh G Momin on rape charges, and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment of 25 years with fine of Rs 30,000.
According to the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP), West Khasi Hills district, the accused person was convicted for raping a minor girl on 31-07-2020 at Dalbot C Village in West Khasi Hills.
“The matter had been reported to Shallang PS where a case was registered vide Shallang PS C/No. 19(07)/2020 Under Section 5(m)/6 of POCSO Act. On enquiry and due to immense efforts of our officers and staff, the accused Agustine Momin @ Rajesh G Momin was arrested immediately and after a thorough investigation on the case, a favourable judgement had been given by the honourable Court of Special Judge (POCSO) Nongstoin,” read a letter from the SP’s office.
The letter further stated that in default of payment of fine, the accused shall further undergo three months of simple imprisonment or five years of rigorous imprisonment with fine of Rs 5000 under Section 506 Part II IPC.
