Rapsang slams Pala, says he got offers to rejoin Cong

SHILLONG:

Suspended Congress legislator from West Shillong constituency, Mohendro Rapsang has hit back at Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala for saying that the party will not be taking back the five who had aligned with the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government.

According to Rapsang, few representatives from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) met him recently and asked him to represent the Congress in the 2023 Assembly elections.

“When somebody from the high command comes to my house requesting me to contest from the Congress, can Pala say anything?” the suspended legislator lashed back.

He also said that a lot of people from the party have met him asking him to rejoin the Congress.

Rapsang said he will believe that the Congress does not want him back only when the party projects someone else to represent it for the 2023 Assembly polls.

He also said that he is a suspended Congress legislator and has not resigned from the party yet.

“The future of the party (Congress) depends on the selection of candidates to represent the party,” Rapsang said when asked on the future of the party.

Earlier this year, the last five Congress legislators were suspended by the AICC for a period of three and half years for extending support to the MDA government where the BJP is also an ally.
