SHILLONG:
The state government on June 23 said that regularisation of over 12,000 Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers is not possible.
Speaking to the reporters, Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma said it is beyond the ability of the state government.
Sangma said there is a huge financial implication associated with the process as the state government is not in a position to do it.
“The SSA Teachers Association met me today and they expressed their plight and demanded regularisation of their services. The government is examining the matter but since regularising more than 12,000 SSA teachers is beyond the ability of the state government as there is huge expenditure involved,” he said.
While stating that the state government will always find ways to support the SSA teachers, he said, time and again the plights of the teachers are being addressed.
“It will be a huge financial burden for the state government, however, we are not sitting idle, we will leave no stone unturned to work for the interest of our teachers,” the minister added.
