To disseminate information about the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the office of Deputy Commissioner Ri Bhoi, through the Department of Supply, conducted an awareness programme at the Auditorium Hall Harli Bagan, Byrnihat, on December 16.
The programme focused on the free distribution of gas cylinder under the PMUY scheme, educating villagers on avoiding wood usage for cooking and opting for cylinder gas.
Present at the event were Sosthenes Sohtun, MLA of Jirang Constituency, Eric Dkhar, BDO of Umling Block, Bhaskar P Baishya, District Nodal Officer from IOCL, P Boro, SO Supply from the DC office, and others.
Sohtun, during the meeting, distributed cylinders to villagers present at the program.
Addressing the audience, Sohtun urged villagers to seize the opportunity of receiving free gas cylinders from the government for impoverished households. He emphasized the harmful effects of using firewood for cooking, stating that it emits polluted smoke, adversely impacting the air we breathe and potentially will cause various illnesses.
