Ri Bhoi girl adjudged Best Commander during NCC rally in Delhi

Risa-Iba Laloo, a 21-year-old girl hailing from Diwon village of Ri Bhoi district, said it was no easy task to lead nearly 1000 cadets in front of many people and dignitaries.

It is indeed a proud moment for Ri Bhoi district and the state of Meghalaya as Risa-Iba Laloo was adjudged ‘Best Commander’ during the National Cadet Corps (NCC), Prime Minister’s Rally held at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi on January 28.

Risa-Iba Laloo, a 21-year-old girl hailing from Diwon village of Ri Bhoi district is the daughter of Was Laloo and Wilda Teron. She had joined the NCC in the year 2020 and was part of the North East Region of the NCC contingent including platoons of the Indian National Army, the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Army Senior Wings performing at the Prime Minister’s Rally to celebrate 75 years of inception of the NCC.

When contacted, Risa-Iba Laloo, a cadet under senior officer of the NCC expressed elation to have been selected and adjudged as the Best Commander after leading nearly 1000 cadets during the rally.

She also said she was extremely happy to have received the award which is indeed a proud moment not only for herself but also her parents, the district and the state and the North Eastern Region as a whole.

Risa-Iba Laloo said that to lead nearly 1000 cadets during the rally and that too in front of more than 10,000 people and dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff Gen. Manoj Pande, Chief of Naval Staff R Harikumar and other high-ranking officials of the country, is not an easy task as you have to pass several stages of training and trial to get selected.

In conclusion, she said that this feat will encourage her to move further in life and will also encourage other youths of the state and the North Eastern Region to work hard and strive to achieve their dreams. She wants to become an Army officer in the near future.
