Shillong:

The Federation of Riwar Mihngi Local Dorbars (a congregation of traditional heads from Riwar) on Thursday met the SDO of Pynursla Civil Sub-division.

The federation met with an appeal to ensure that the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel guard the borders and do not disturb locals residing in border areas.

They said that the government should compensate the victim, Ronningstar Nongkynrih who was allegedly gunned down by BSF personnel.

On the other hand, it also requested the SDO to urge companies working along the Shillong – Tamabil road to start the black-topping of the Pynursla road till Nongshyrngan.

The group urged the official to maintain a strict vigil ensuring that no law and order issue came up.

Demanding an independent inquiry into the recent Rngaiñ incident resulting in the death of two people, the federation informed that the families of the victims have not received any compensation and has requested the official to look into the matter.
