Ronnie dares NPP to withdraw from NEDA, NDA

SHILLONG:

Congress leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh, on September 8, slammed the NPP for ‘fooling people’ into thinking that the party will no longer work with the BJP in 2023.

Lyngdoh was reacting to the recent statements where the NPP claimed that it will not work with the BJP in 2023 and the BJP in retaliation said it will pull out of the MDA government.

Daring the NPP to pull out of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre and the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) if it no longer wants to work with the BJP, the Mylliem MDC said the NPP had said that the party will not work with the BJP anymore but in the North East, they are still under NEDA and NDA in Delhi.

“If you are not going to work with the BJP anymore, from North East withdraw from the NEDA and from the Centre withdraw from the NDA then the people will believe you. Like somebody said, the people are not stupid as they are wise enough to read between your statements,” he added.

Stating that political drama was just to fool the people of the state, the MDC said, “Yesterday, they said all the MLAs are on board with the BJP to withdraw from the MDA government and today we read in the paper that one of the MLAs of the BJP who is also a minister said no to it. This is just to fool the people.”

“For almost five years you were working with the BJP and when the elections are approaching you want to fool the people that we are not with the BJP. Don’t fool the people because they are very wise. Don’t underestimate the wisdom of the people. Don’t underestimate the choice of the people,” he added.

He also reminded that the NPP MP from Tura, Agatha Sangma, had extended full support to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the Parliament and went on to say that “Their action speaks louder than words.”

Lyngdoh further alleged that the Meghalaya Chief Minister would also seek the advice of the Assam Chief Minister, who is also chairman of the NEDA on any issues. “So stop fooling the people because in 2023, they will give their decision,” he stated.
