Rs 9.70 lakh sanctioned to 522 families affected by flash floods: Kyrmen Shylla

He, however, informed that the amount is yet to be paid to 77 families affected by the flash floods on July 26, 2021 and 64 on January 18, 2022.

Minister in-charge of Revenue and Disaster Management, Kyrmen Shylla, on March 15, said that Rs 9.70 lakh was sanctioned as relief payments to 522 families affected by flash floods in Bhoirymbong block during 2020.

Replying to a query raised by All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) legislator from Umroi, George B Lyngdoh, on the eighth day of the ongoing budget session in the Assembly, Shylla said that the total estimated amount of compensation has already been placed to the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District on July 26, 2021 and January 18, 2022 to clear payments to the farmers whose fields were destroyed by flash floods.

He, however, informed that the amount is yet to be paid to 77 families affected by the flash floods on July 26, 2021 and 64 on January 18, 2022.

“We have another 55 families who have not received the money. This was because they have not submitted their documents,” Shylla said.

The minister has also assured to review the present system of clearing payments when opposition expressed concern over the delay in payment to the  families.
