An RTI filed by an activist from Amtapoh, under Amlarem constituency has allegedly revealed misappropriation of funds by Amlarem MLA Lahkmen Rymbui.
Addressing a press conference on February 9, Diat Tariang said that he filed an RTI which revealed that under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP), the total amount sanctioned from 2018 till 2022 is Rs 125,000,000 while the total expenditure is Rs 810,675,00.
“The MLA has to clarify on the remaining amount which is Rs 439,325,00,” he said.
He also said that there are only 138 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme for which there is a total sanction amount of Rs 179,400,00.
Tariang said that the number of beneficiaries is very low.
Turning to Covid relief funds, he said a total amount of Rs 195,0000 was sent to 260 individuals, Rs 550,000 to one organisation and Rs 100,000 to 20 Covid management teams.
He contended that the names of the organisations and individuals were not even mentioned.
