SHILLONG:
Samvaad (enabled by Tata Steel Foundation) launched Ha Yupiam Ka Bei (On Mother’s Lap) Ki Jingrwai Kynoi Thiah (Lullabies) a dynamic and innovative songbook published by Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) Press on November 19, at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.
With a carefully curated collection of timeless classic lullabies by Amabel Susngi, this illustrated songbook includes over 25 Khasi lullabies in dialects from Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Ri Bhoi districts, covering a wide spectrum of musical styles.
The songbook is designed for ease of use, featuring lyrics with English translations and melody notation for musicians of all skill levels.
Ha Yupiam Ka Bei will be available as a book and the recorded lullabies can be enjoyed on Tyn-re YouTube Channel.
The book is documented and compiled by Amabel Susngi who is a well-known musician and a teacher at Hill Crest Higher Secondary School. She is a recipient of the Samvaad Fellowship (enabled by Tata Steel Foundation), 2021.
