SC majority villages to be transformed into Adarsh Gram: Union Minister

Minister Pratima Bhoumik said that the central government has kept Rs 35,500 crore in the budget of five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 for Post-Matriculation and Pre-Matriculation stipends to SC students.

Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhoumik, on May 17 said that the government has decided to transform 30 Scheduled Caste populated villages in Tripura into Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram for which additional Rs 20 lakh has been sanctioned.

Bhoumik also said that under the central scheme of Babu Jagjivan Ram Scheme, 50-seat and 100-seat hostels for boys and girls at 50:50 ratio will be constructed and repaired according to the requirement.

“Our government is working to bring the backward people of the Scheduled Caste community to the mainstream of the society. 30 SC populated villages of the state have been nominated to transform into Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram. Additional 20 lakh rupees has been approved for providing different facilities for overall development of the villages,” she informed.

She further said the central government has kept Rs 35,500 crore in the budget of five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 for Post-Matriculation and Pre-Matriculation stipends to SC students.

“It is the duty of the government to take the society forward through the development of people from all walks of life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working with a vision of building one India, best India,” Bhoumik added.
