The Students Christian Movement of India (SCMI), Meghalaya, in collaboration with the El Elyon Institute celebrated International Women’s Day at El Elyon Institute on March 8.
To mark the occasion, various programmes were organised such as Poster Design, Signature Campaign and a Group Discussion on the theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”.
The program was attended by the students of the El Elyon Institute in presence of SCMI Office Bearer, Shongkun Mynsiem Diengdoh who is also the Program Secretary of the SCMI North East Zone-1.
Speaking on the occasion Diengdoh said, “As SCMI we celebrate this day to fight for gender equality, we also spread awareness among the youth especially women to understand the good and bad within the family the society and wherever we go”.
She also said, “Each and everyone should understand how to look towards another person, and also as youths we should never express all our thoughts in social media platform”.
On the other hand, Baiaithrang Khonglam, who is also the Executive Member of the SCMI Meghalaya said, “Safety is not only for women, infact men also need to understand how to treat a woman, and it all starts from home”.
