Secretariat search for toilet space

SHILLONG:

Meghalaya Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has said that the department will conduct an inspection of the Secretariat’s compound next week to check for a suitable place for construction of public toilets for visitors and drivers.

Speaking to reporters, he said, “We will be inspecting the areas outside the Secretariat to check if there is any place to construct a public toilet for visitors and also for drivers who have to wait there.”

He said that ever since he took charge of SAD, he felt it was important to have public toilet facilities.

“As a minister of SAD, I feel there is a need to create such facilities for people who visit the Secretariat. There should be a place where they can refresh themselves. I have spoken to the officers about this and next week we will check for a suitable place for to put up the toilet facilities,” Tongkhar said.

On the other hand, the minister admitted that there is a shortage of rooms in the Meghalaya Secretariat and said that if there is a need, they will make necessary proposals.

He said that there are departments that have their own campus. The Education department has shifted to its campus in Laitumkhrah which has 12 rooms.
