Sewage leak & foul smell rile traders of Tura supermarket

To make matters worse, a strong stench was emanating from the site as traders complain about the sewage leaking from the septic tank of the Tura supermarket.

TURA:

Sewage leaking from drains connected to the Tura supermarket in the West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya has made its way onto the roads, causing difficulties for people passing through.

To make matters worse, a strong stench was emanating from the site as traders complain about the sewage leaking from the septic tank of the Tura supermarket.

“This sewage has to come from the septic tank of the Tura supermarket and we cannot do any business because customers are turning away from our shops because of the smell,” complained traders whose shops are on the path of the sewage leak.

It was informed that the leak happens every day around 2:30 in the afternoon and traders suspect that a leaking water pipe is adding to the grim situation.

“Every day it is happening around the time when water is released into the PHE water supply pipes that are also located beneath the drains. It appears that there is a leak and the water is pushing out the leaking sewage onto the roads above,” the traders suspected.
