SIT formed to probe immigration of illegal Bangladeshis in Tripura

AGARTALA:

Tripura Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to identify organized network involved in anti-national activities after 20 illegal 20 illegal Bangladeshi nationals were held in Agartala city in last three days.

According to the police, preliminary interrogation revealed that the said persons had come in search of work, and were working as masons in a construction company.

“In this regard it has been decided that important cases will be transferred to a Special Investigation Team formed at Tripura Police Crime Branch to enable and ensure concentrated, focused and end to end investigation in coordination with other security agencies working in Tripura and at the Central level to identify organised network involved in such anti national activities”, the press statement reads.

It further informed that in recent past a large number of illegal Bangladesh nationals were arrested and specific cases were registered in appropriate cases with various police stations of Tripura.

“In this context total of 6 (six) important cases have been transferred for investigation to the SIT of Tripura Police Crime Branch”, it added.
