Sohkwai FC defeated 18 mile FC 2-0 to become the reigning champions in the football tournament held by Byrnihat Sports Association in the BSA Football Ground on Thursday.
It was an entertaining match overall, however despite their attempts, 18 mile FC failed to make any inroad against Sohkwai defense. Sohkwai on the other hand, managed to score two goals through Micheal Wahlang in the 3rd minute and Genius Sylliang in the 75th minute.
The match ended with a score of 2-0 in favour of Sohkwai FC, thus handing them the winners’ trophy and prize money of Rs 30,000, while being the runners-up, 18 mile received cash award of Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
From the Individuals awards, award for the best player was given to Pyndapbor Tangsang from 18Mile. Award for top scorer went to Living Nongrang from 18 Mile and Bildes Wahlang from Sohkhwai FC had received the award for best goalkeeper.
The minister of transport, Dasakhiatbha Lamare was the chief guest at the event who presided over the function and distributed prizes. Sosthenos Sohtun, the MLA of Jirang, The president of BSA, Victor Rani the MDC of Jirang along with the other members of the BSA were also present at the event.
