SHILLONG:
Sohra legislator Gavin M Mylliem, on August 20, was elected as the new president of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF), while Banteidor Lyngdoh and Emlang Lytan were elected as working presidents.
The election was held during the Triennial Conference of the PDF at Mawkhar Community Hall which witnessed the attendance of hundreds of party members.
However two other PDF legislators – cabinet minister Hamletson Dohling and Umsning MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong did not attend the conference. Reportedly, they are likely to join the National People’s Party before the 2023 Assembly polls.
The main agendas of the meeting were to elect new office bearers of the Central Executive Committee, a general report of the activities of the party, and a discussion to strengthen the party for the upcoming assembly election in 2023 among others.
