The State BJP extended their felicitations to Silbi Passah and AL Hek at the party office today. AL Hek, a Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner, and Silbi Passah, a Padmashree awardee, were honoured by the state president during the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Passah expressed her gratitude, stating, “I would like to thank God for blessing us with sound health, allowing us to gather here today. This is a special day for me, and I am truly honoured to be felicitated by all of you, the influential people of the country. My sincere thanks to the organisers of this programme who believe that I deserve this appreciation.”
Reflecting on her journey as a Hindi teacher, Passah highlighted her involvement in various curriculum activities with students. She expressed her passion for teaching and promoting traditional song, dance, and instruments, particularly the oldest traditional instruments.
Passah acknowledged the support of her students and the recognition she received from the Department of Art and Culture. She emphasised the importance of respecting one’s language and culture, stating, “Respect your language, your culture, and the world will respect you.”
In his speech, Hek said “It is an honour to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for being the best cabinet minister in Meghalaya”.
He also lauded Passah for receiving the Padmashree Award and thanked her for showcasing the rich culture of Meghalaya throughout the country.
