SHILLONG:
The state BJP will be meeting on Saturday to discuss the recent political development.
“We will be holding a meeting and it will be a crucial one,” BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said on September 8.
He refused to comment on the allegations made by former Mawsynram legislator Himalaya M Shangpliang citing that there is no point as he is no longer in the BJP.
Shangpliang had tendered his resignation on Wednesday citing nepotism within the rank and file of the BJP under the leadership of Mawrie.
Shangpliang on Thursday said the post of adviser to the education department was offered to him by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
He alleged that this was after BJP state president had stopped cabinet minister and Pynthorumkhrah legislator AL Hek from sending a letter to the chief minister for recommending the names of Shangpliang and M Kharkrang for some assignments. Mawrie had instead requested his own name for recommendation to the chief minister.
