State-level cycling selection trials held at Mawshbuit

Balasiewdor Wahlang held first position in women’s category, Gilbertson Wahlang held fourth position in men’s elite category, Dari Sohshang occupied fourth position in women’s category and Willbornson Wahlang  held third position in men downhill category.

SHILLONG:

State-level selection trials for cyclists for 2nd Northeast Olympic 2022 held at Mawshbuit, a village located in the Mawryngkneng Block of East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.

The selection trials were held by Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association (MDCA) under the aegis of Meghalaya Cycling Association (MCA).

Balasiewdor Wahlang held first position in women’s category, Gilbertson Wahlang held fourth position in men’s elite category, Dari Sohshang occupied fourth position in women’s category and Willbornson Wahlang  held third position in men downhill category.

Dari and Willbornson were the only riders from South West Khasi Hills who had participated in the selection trials for the first time and have also been selected for the 2nd Northeast Olympic.

Talking to The Meghalayan, Ambrose T. Thongni, President of Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association, thanked the cyclists from all the districts who have had taken part in the event and especially the cyclists from own district who had been working so hard to reach their goals.

The MDCA also extended their gratitude towards the cyclists who were not selected but gave their best in the selection process. “There is still time for you all to work harder and train harder so that you will reach your goals that you aimed for,” Thongni said.
