Power Minister AT Mondal has informed that the state owes Rs 244 crores in dues to the NTPC, and the government is trying to clear it as the obligations will be much higher as time passes by.

“We were having a liability of Rs 488 crore, of which we have paid 244 crores through Atmanirbhar Bharat. So, we have to pay Rs 244 crores to NTPC in addition to penalties that come to about Rs 8 crore per month,” Mondal informed.

Stating that the government was able to contain the losses, Mondal informed that the state has taken back 53 Megawatts of power which was earlier given to Uttarakhand.

“We are also hoping to take back the remaining 35.35 Megawatts of power given to Tamil Nadu. This will help us cope up with the situation during the lame period,” Mondal informed.
