State students allotted CUET centres in Assam, Mizoram

SHILLONG:

Over 10 students, who are to appear for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), have been allotted examination centres in neighbouring Assam and Mizoram.

Informing this on August 31, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the matter was brought to his notice by leaders of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) that there were some students who, in spite of opting  for Shillong as centres, the students received admit cards indicating that their examination centres will be in Guwahati and Aizawl.

The examination will commence from tomorrow.

Rymbui said the Education department had immediately communicated to the National Testing Agency (NTA) that around 10 students from the state were facing the problem.

“I have also asked the commissioner & secretary to speak to the NTA and communication is on. We are yet to get any response from the NTA but let’s hope that the NTA will be able to allot these students if there are any seats available in our state,” the minister said.

According to him, CUET in Meghalaya will be held in centres located in Shillong, Ri Bhoi and Tura.

When asked, Rymbui said he does not have the total number of students who are appearing for CUET from Meghalaya since they have applied directly to the NTA and the information has not been shared with the state government as of today.
