Meghalaya State Olympic Association in association with Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, has launched a state-wide talent identification programme implemented by Edge10 Group, UK, under the supervision of Ian Campbell, Olympian (Australia) and Alistair Tait, Global International Coach in all 12 Districts of Meghalaya.
The Talent identification program started from Mawkyrwat, SWKD on July 9, and will continue till July 28 covering all 12 districts of the state.
Four tests were conducted in the process, they are the 20M Sprint, 10M ladder run, Compass Drill, and the Vertical Jump on calibrated digital mats.
All the tests were digitally calibrated to provide accurate, objective results.
After the tests throughout the 12 districts of Meghalaya, Edge10 will submit an analysis report of the test within two weeks indicating the names of the top performers with high potential to MSOA and Govt of Meghalaya.
Based on outcomes Meghalaya State Olympic Association, and Government of Meghalaya, could consider placing the top 500 or 400 in the ‘Elite” athletes on the Edge10 “Elite Pathway Program” for which Meghalaya State Olympic Association and Government of Meghalaya could then support the top 10 or top 20 athletes with scholarships or support for coaching and training under top world class coaches and academies overseas.
The Edge10 and MSOA team is presently on way to Ampati, North Garo Hills District of Meghalaya
