The Office of the District Statistical Officer South Garo Hills, Baghmara, organised a sensitisation program on Statistical Indices for Information Education and Communication at Krima III Training Hall in Baghmara on September 6.
Gracing the occasion as a chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills District, R.C.Momin, deliberated on the importance of statistics in public life.
Informing that economics and statistics play a key role for undertaking various statistical activities at the district and the state level, he said that the subject enhances the economic credibility and financial integrity by allowing the government to have fair idea about the next five-year plan.
Momin, therefore, urged the gathering to give serious heed to the subject as it will give them basic insight on the various statistical data through which one can dig out the basic information or data that are required in our day-to-day life.
D.T.N.Sangma, Reserch Officer Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Govt of Meghalaya, spoke on the importance of Consumer Price Index and B.G.Momin Research Officer Directorate of Economics and statistics, Government of Meghalaya spoke on the importance of Agriculture Statistics.
