SHILLONG:
Nominated member of the KHADC and former Deputy Chief Minister Bindo M Lanong, on June 21, said that he is still with the United Democratic Party (UDP).
“I am still with the UDP,” Lanong, who is chief adviser of the party, told reporters.
When asked, Lanong said he had prepared to contest for the election since there was no UDP candidate from Nongkrem and that Lambor Malngiang was never a UDP member.
Stating that the misunderstanding has ended, Lanong said, “Now that it has ended, I did not resign. I did not move anywhere so I am still where I am.”
Lanong had contested against the party’s official candidate and former Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malngiang in the last Assembly elections. However, both were defeated by VPP chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit.
