SHILLONG:
The Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, on March 22, did away with the “one way” arrangement implemented around the Laitumkhrah-Dhankheti circuit aimed at de-congesting traffic during school hours. The arrangement, which was supposed to go on for two days – March 21, 22 – on a trial basis, was called off after the first day.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the SP said that since it was initially implemented on a trial basis, the administration arrived at the decision to call it off after “the traffic problem further compounded, leading to further delays in commuting and inconvenience caused is regretted”.
It was further informed that traffic movement will regress to the two–way arrangement in order to compress the traffic congestion from 7:30 am to 9:00 am.
Earlier on March 17, the SP had announced the “one way” arrangement on a trial basis in and around Laitumkhrah and Dhankheti circuit for two days starting March 21 from 7:30 – 9:00 am.
