NONGPOH:

The Synjuk Rangbah Shnong of Ri Bhoi district and the office of the Hima Mylliem is at loggerheads over a notification passed by the latter urging entrepreneur to acquire a No Objection Certificate (NoC) to start a commercial business in the area.

On receiving the notification, the representatives of the Sunjuk ki Rangbah shnong led by BB Makdoh, chairman, PB Syngkli, general secretary, and S Thabah, treasurer filed a memorandum before the executive member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Jambor War, seeking his intervention on the order, on May 18.

According to the notification passed on April 4, 2022, the Hima Mylliem Chief said anyone who wants to start a commercial business or service like a guest house, hotel, petrol pump, vehicle showroom, wine store, steel fabrications, workshops, and others must apply for the NOC from the office of the Hima Mylliem as under the Administration of Mylliem Syiemship Rule 2015.

The leaders stressed that the order passed by the office of the Hima Mylliem will contradict the power and dignity of the dorbar shnong under the Hima Mylliem and will also make it difficult for the youths to start their own businesses.
