SHILLONG:

Union Minister of State and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Rameswar Teli has said that he does not have any report pertaining to AL Hek indulging in anti-party activities.

Recently, Hek’s colleague and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai alleged that the former is close to Mukul Sangma and other TMC members and trying for an alternative forum.

“I have taken the responsibility and met all the people. I will be back after one month to work on our party to get stronger in Meghalaya to win the 2023 assembly elections and also the 2024 Lok Sabha polls,” Teli said.

Meanwhile, Dipayan Chakravarty of the BJP state unit said that the internal feud between Shullai and Hek is an “internal party matter”.

“There is something between the two but we can resolve it very easily,” Chakravarty said.

He also said that the duo are part and parcel of the party and they will continue to be in the BJP. Hek also reiterated that in a family, some differences do occur.

On Shullai’s allegations that Hek was involved in anti-party activities, Chakravarty said that anyone can make such claims, but it must be proved by the disciplinary committee of the BJP.

“I cannot just accuse anyone of doing any anti-party activities but it is too early to say who is involved. I have personally not seen Bah Hek involved in any anti-party activities. He is part of the party and is working for it,” he added.

He also said that Shullai is a good-hearted man and is doing his best for the people of South Shillong.

Teli informed that he is in the state to monitor the party’s situation.

Teli said that under the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, there are 36 assembly seats and there were thorough discussions on how to set up candidates in these seats for the 2023 polls.
