GUWAHATI:
The third Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Kisan-Jawan-Vigyan Mela 2022 was organized at Defence Research Laboratory (DRL) R&D centre at Tawang on September 30 as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of DRL in Tezpur.
DRDO Kisan-Jawan-Vigyan Mela provided a ground for the interaction of farmers and jawans with scientists, which will help in fostering national integration among the villagers in the border region.
Major events like a competition of farm produce, awards for progressive farmers, exhibition, and kisan sabha were organised to mark the occasion.
GS Udawat, commandant of 38th Bn SSB, Tawang graced the occasion as chief guest, while Rinchin Leta, DC in-charge of Tawang district and Col Dodhy, deputy commander of HQ 190 Mountain Brigade, Tawang attended the programme as the guests of honour. Head of agriculture and allied departments of Tawang district attended as invitees and subject experts.
Dr BJ Gogoi, OIC of DRL RDC Tawang welcomed the guests and participants and gave an overview of DRL-DRDO activities in Arunachal Pradesh, and Dr Ajitabh Bora, chief mela coordinator of DRL, apprised about the aim of the Mela.
A total of 140 farmers participated in the event, while students from four schools participated in science quiz and model competitions.
