SHILLONG:
Along with the rest of the world, Meghalaya also celebrated Eid-al-Adha also known as Bakri Eid, which is a Feast of Sacrifice, the second and largest of the two main holidays celebrated in Islam (the other being Eid al-Fitr).
A sense of solemnity and peacefulness filled the air at the Madina Masjid in Laban, Shillong as thousands thronged the glass mosque to offer their prayers.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma greeted everyone on the auspicious occasion of Eid-al-Adha also known as Bakri Eid. He wished the Muslim community a blessed Eid filled with happiness, peace and prosperity.
Taking to Twitter, CM Conrad wrote, “I wish the Muslim community celebrating this festival, a blessed Eid filled with happiness, peace and prosperity. May the spirit of this Eid with its message of solidarity and unity, remind all of the importance of giving and compassion.”
