Guwahati:
Three of the five victims, who were run over by a train in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam on April 11 night, have been identified as residents of Assam, on April 12.
They have been identified as Pasumantri Vajulu, Banishar Basumairy and Rashidul Islam. Notably, the identities of the remaining two victims are yet to be ascertained.
The incident took place when a few passengers in the Secunderabad-Guwahati express train pulled the chain and tried to cross over to the other track and were run over by the Konark Express coming in from the opposite direction on the adjacent track.
According to Srikakulam Superintendent of police (SP), “Someone in Guwahati Express had pulled the chain and after the train stopped, five people tried to crossed the track. At the same time, the Konark express was coming in from the opposite direction on the adjacent track, and it ran over all the five. All of them died on the spot.”
