SHILLONG:
The Khasi Hills United Democratic Party (UDP) MDC from United Democratic Party (UDP) Titostarwell Chyne has been recognised as the Leader of Opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Earlier in the day, Chyne told reporters on June 21, that the resolution will be sent to the Chairman of the KHADC Lamphrang Blah.
Asked on the kind of issues the opposition will bring in the upcoming session, Chyne said that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MDCs will discuss the matter but maintained that they will pursue the various initiatives launched during his tenure as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC.
“The main issue is that of border issue, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) where I have also taken the initiative to call all the three CEMs of the three Autonomous District Councils (Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills and Garo Hills). Will take this up in the session and I hope that all the members will come together to oppose the UCC,” he said.
