TMC leader Richard Marak arrested in connection with Tura violence

The violence that led to the injury of several police personnel and torching of vehicles, forced the district administration to impose Section 144 in the area.

TURA:

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and former youth Congress chief Richard Marak was arrested on July 25 in connection with the mob violence in Tura on July 24, wherein a mob led by TMC goons attacked police and civilians during the meeting of chief minister Conrad K Sangma with ACHIK members.

The violence that led to the injury of several police personnel and torching of vehicles, forced the district administration to impose Section 144 in the area.

Tura police informed that a conspiracy was hatched by Marak to derail the talks and create trouble.

Notably, Marak is a close friend aide of former chief minister and TMC leader Mukul Sangma. Marak contested unsuccessfully against Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma from South Tura constituency in 2023.
