Trinamool launches ‘charge sheet’ highlighting BJP’s misgovernance in Tripura

The state AITC said that the charge sheet was prepared on the basis of information collected from locals.

AGARTALA:

A week before the by-polls, the state All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) launched a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) alleged misgovernance by publishing a “charge sheet”.

In the “charge sheet”, the AITC jotted down how the BJP has failed to deliver on the promises it had made in its 2018 manifesto. From zero initiatives to fix the issue of 10,323 terminated teachers to negligible effort in improving Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) areas, the charge sheet named all the “hollow” claims of the government in the state.

Addressing the press at the Agartala Press Club, Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev, said, “Through this charge sheet, we have exposed BJP’s claims. We wanted to show how BJP has not delivered on its promises. Our party will also release constituency-wise charge sheets this week to show how the BJP government has failed at all levels in the past four-and-half years.”

Dev said that the charge sheet was prepared on the basis of information collected from locals. “We conducted a survey and people complained that under the present government there had been multiple issues such as drinking water crisis, poor road infrastructure, and lack of street lights,” the parliamentarian said.

The Tripura Pradesh Trinamool Congress launched constituency-wise charge sheets for Agartala and Town Bordowali assembly constituency, on Wednesday.

The state unit chief, Subal Bhowmik, was also present at the launch along with Trinamool’s by-poll candidates Panna Deb (Agartala) and Sanhita Banerjee (Town Bordowali).

“The unemployment rate in Tripura is 17.4 per cent which is much higher than the national average of 7.1 per cent. The BJP government had promised to build an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Tripura in two years, but we have not seen any update on it yet,” Bhowmik stated.
