AGARTALA:
The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed in Tripura, in a series of operations, seized various illegal items worth more than Rs 2 crore and arrested two suspected smugglers from the Indo-Bangladesh border on the intervening night of May 14 and May 15, respectively.
In a statement issued by the border organisation, the BSF revealed that its personnel seized 20.5 kg ganja, 29 cattle, 10,500 Bangladeshi Taka, along with a huge quantity of contraband collectively amounting to Rs 2,29,33,241. It was also during the operations that two smugglers – Madhu Data and Pranam Majumdar – were apprehended.
“During the wee hours of May 14, on specific intelligence input, the troops of BOP Srinagar, Ex-109 Bn BSF conducted a special joint operation along with the police and successfully recovered a huge consignment of 102 bundles containing assorted clothing items along with one four-wheeler, one bike and three mobile phones from a godown under at South Tripura,” the BSF said.
The border organisation added that the seized bundles of clothes, automobiles, contraband and cattle collectively amounted to over Rs 2.2 crore.
