Tripura CM asks people to stay alert as Covid cases rise

The state has sufficient doctors, medicines, oxygen supply and ICU beds which were not available during the first wave of Covid, Deb assured the public.

AGARTALA:

Amid the recent re-surge in Covid cases in the country, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has advised citizens of the state to start following Covid-appropriate behaviour.

The chief minister, while addressing a programme at his Banamalipur constituency where he flagged off a newly purchased ambulance, referred to the Prime Minister’s Covid-related speech during his radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on April 24.

“In Mann Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister advised everyone to maintain the Covid-appropriate behaviour including ensuring social distancing, wearing of masks and cleaning of hands, among others. Because we have seen that the Covid cases have surged again in New Delhi and some people have died too. Irrespective of majority of people now being vaccinated, the Covid threat still looms. We have to stay alert,” Deb said.

He, however, appealed to the people not to panic and instead asked them to stay alert, saying, “There is nothing to worry as we have almost defeated Corona. Now, we have sufficient stock of masks, hand sanitizers, and other safety kits including medical essentials. There is no need to worry, but the people should stay alert.”

Deb also said that the state has sufficient doctors, medicines, oxygen supply and ICU beds which were not available during the first wave of Covid.
