Agartala, Feb 29: Tripura Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that it was imperative for the government to initiative interventions for the development and growth of women in the State
Speaking at a seminar in Agartala, Saha stressed on the need to ensure women’s development through Self Help Groups (SHGs). He informed that financial stability for women is one of the agenda of the government and different programmes are being implemented through the SHG movement.
He said that over 90,000 women in the State has been involved in the SHG movement. He also said that free education to girls are being provided in state run colleges.
He also said that efforts are being made by the government to set up women’s police station and family courts.
The Chief Minister also emphasized on skill development and socio-economic progress.
Additionally, financial assistance has been provided to 11 crore farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Samman Nidhi Yojana.
