Tripura CM takes oath as a legislator

After taking the oath, Saha claimed that the recent victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the bye-poll proves that people are with the saffron party, and have extended their full support towards their goal.

AGARTALA:

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, who won the recently-held bye-polls from the 8-Town Bordowali constituency, formally took oath as a legislator, on July 8.

Assembly speaker Ratan Chakraborty administered the oath of office at the Assembly lobby.

After taking the oath, Saha claimed that the recent victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the bye-poll proves that people are with the saffron party, and have extended their full support towards their goal.

“BJP and development are synonymous. In all the states, where NDA is in power, the public is with us,” said Saha.

Speaking about the recently held BJP’s state executive meeting, the Chief Minister said, “We organised the meeting to examine the strength and weakness of the party. During the meeting a series of resolutions were passed and a roadmap was created for the party’s future. Our party programs and organisational manoeuvres shall now progress in the decided direction,” he said.

It may be recalled that on July 4, Saha tendered his resignation to Vice President Venkaya Naidu and resigned as MP of Rajya Sabha

Saha had 14 days’ time to resign from the Rajya Sabha to officially take charge as the leader of the house in the Tripura assembly.
