Tripura Congress to file PIL seeking explanation to ex-CM’s ‘VIP entitlements’

Barman, who was also the former MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the former Deb of misusing people's money to get all the "VIP facilities" akin to a chief minister.

Congress will file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Tripura High Court seeking an explanation on how former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s can enjoy privileges akin to a Chief Minister since he has stepped down from the post.

“He (Biplab Kumar Deb) is looting and misusing the money of people. I am soon going to file a PIL with the High Court seeking explanation on how a mere MLA can enjoy such lavish life,” said senior Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman.

While addressing a press conference, Barman, who was also the former MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the former Deb of misusing people’s money to get all the “VIP facilities” akin to a chief minister.

Roy further claimed that the transport department of the state has already intimated the Airport authority that the department will not bear the expenses of Deb’s helicopter rides.

Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Birajit Sinha and former MLA Asish Saha were also present in the press conference.
