Tripura Congress working president joins AAP

AGARTALA:

The Tripura Congress got a big jolt on May 2 after its working president Suman Laskar joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at New Delhi. The move comes ahead of the Assembly Poll in the state.

The AAP had issued a statement on Monday to make the announcement, and Laskar, who was Tripura Pradesh Congress’ working president, had also cited his reasons for leaving. Lashkar joined the AAP in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“Common people need water, electricity, good quality health services and a high standard of education for the children. No party in India except AAP has demonstrated that political will to solve the basic problems of common people,” Laskar was quoted as saying in the press release.

Reacting to the move, Kejriwal had said that more and more young people should join the movement.

The AAP is serious about securing a foothold in Tripura, where Assembly Elections are due in February 2023, and it has already started its door to door campaign in Tripura and will be intensifying its campaign in the coming months.
