A day after three insurgents escaped fromĀ a sub-jail located at Kanchanpur sub-division located in North Tripura district, Tripura Police has alerted all the law enforcement agencies as well as sought cooperation from its Mizoram counterpart.
Kanchanpur sub-division shares an inter-state border with Mizoram.
Police sources said that these three insurgents were accused in a gruesome murder case.
āThe three insurgents overpowered cops and jumped off the wall of the sub-jail when the latter got out to open the main gate,ā a police source said.
Earlier, they were produced before the North Tripura district court on Saturday and after the hearing, the trio was sent back to the sub-jail in police custody.
The trio identified as Jiban Reang, Chanmoni Reang and Lafanga Reang were arrested for killing one Litan Nath who was abducted at gunpoint from Damcehrra, a village near the Mizoram border, and was found buried along the Tripura-Mizoram border on November 27.
āWe have alerted all our enforcement agencies to detain the trio. All the possible hideouts are being raidedā, the police official added.
